Program Director's Statement:
Stony Brook University offers a one-year, ACGME-accredited Neuroradiology Fellowship. Based at our Level 1 Trauma Center and its satellite facilities, the program provides intensive, full-time clinical training under close faculty supervision.
For more details on our post-graduate training, please visit the Stony Brook GME website linked to this sentence.
Overview:
As the primary healthcare hub for Suffolk County, Stony Brook University Hospital manages all major neurovascular trauma and neuro-oncologic cases in the region. Our fellowship offers a uniquely diverse clinical experience, balancing high-acuity academic medicine with community-based hospital and private practice settings.
Clinical Highlights:
High-Velocity Trauma: Gain extensive experience with complex brain and spine injuries at our Level 1 Trauma Center.
Outpatient Depth: Rotate through our community hospitals (Southampton and Eastern Long Island) and regional imaging centers in Commack, Hampton Bays, and Riverhead for a high-volume of routine CT/MRI and outpatient neuroradiology.
Procedural Training: Collaborate with Neuro-Interventional and Interventional Radiology teams on procedures including lumbar punctures, myelography, and kyphoplasty.
This broad exposure ensures a well-rounded training environment that bridges the gap between specialized academic research and practical community care.
We currently accept one fellow per year through the NRMP Match.
Our curriculum is designed to bridge the gap between residency and expert practice, fostering clinical proficiency alongside the skills for lifelong self-assessment.
Whether your goal is a career in academia or private practice, our program provides the comprehensive training needed for success—a fact reflected in the diverse and accomplished careers of our alumni.
Thank you for considering the Stony Brook Neuroradiology Fellowship.
