
RESEARCH
Our lab investigates the interactions among innate immune cells, cerebrovascular blood flow, and behavior in preclinical models of stroke and in human stroke. For the preclinical work, the lab employs various technologies to achieve this goal, including confocal microscopy, light-sheet microscopy, deep-learning algorithms, live-animal imaging, immunologic manipulation with flow cytometry readouts, transgenic mouse models, and advanced surgical techniques. For the human work, we study behavioral data and link it to immune changes we detect in the blood of stroke patients. We believe that understanding these relationships and spatiotemporal differences can lead to more precise therapies for innate immunity in stroke, with meaningful improvements for patients.
